Answerline is a daily quiz bowl training email. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect when you sign up, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep it short because we collect little.
Who we are
Answerline sends one quiz bowl training email a day, built from real tournament clues drawn from the QBReader question corpus. It is run by an independent developer, not a large company. You can reach us any time at answerline.daily@gmail.com.
What we collect
When you join the beta, we collect only what we need to run it:
- Your email address. Required, so we can send your daily challenge and beta updates.
- Optional details you choose to give: a first name, the categories and difficulty you want, and your school or team.
- Basic usage events such as when a challenge is opened or answered, so we can tell whether the beta is working.
We do not ask for passwords, payment details, phone numbers, home addresses, or any sensitive personal information.
Why we collect it
- To send your daily challenge and beta access to the right inbox.
- To match the questions to the categories and difficulty you picked.
- To understand, in aggregate, whether the beta is useful and worth continuing.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.
How it is stored and who helps us run it
Your account is stored in Supabase, which provides our database and sign-in. Emails are sent through an email delivery provider. Questions are sourced from QBReader. These services process data only so Answerline can run, and we keep what we collect no longer than we need it to provide the service.
To keep you signed in to the portal, we use a small sign-in cookie. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your choices
- Every email has a one-click unsubscribe. Use it any time and the daily emails stop.
- To see what we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and data entirely, email answerline.daily@gmail.com and we will take care of it.
Students and younger players
Quiz bowl players include minors, and we take that seriously. If you are under 18, please sign up with a parent, guardian, or coach who knows you are using Answerline. We only ever collect an email and question preferences from players, and we never ask younger players for anything more.
A parent or guardian can email answerline.daily@gmail.com at any time to review or delete a child’s information. We do not knowingly collect more than is needed to send training emails.
Changes to this page
If our practices change, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so clearly here.
